Not so fast. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has stopped the sale of the jewelry collections confiscated from the widow of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza announced Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines - The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) is no longer pursuing the sale of the sequestered jewelry of former First Lady Imelda Marcos before the term of the present administration ends because this could be viewed as a midnight deal.
