Multiple Birthstones of June

Month of June has more than one birthstone. They are pearl, Alexandrite, and moonstone. Pearl has been used for centuries from Roman Empire to Tudors in England and beyond and it is the only gem extracted from living sea creatures, certain oysters and clams. Today cultured pearls are completely replacing natural pearls. Alexandrite first discovered in Russia in 1831 is a modern gem that is extremely rare. It changes its color from green especially during daylight to purplish red in incandescent light. Synthetic manmade varieties are also available making it difficult to separate the two. Romans believed that moonstone changes its color based on the phase of the moon. Actually when held to light, the bluish-white spots inside project a silvery splay of colors. Its multi colors can dazzle anyone wearing it. Indians consider moonstone as a sacred stone that brings good fortune. It comes in variety of colors including green, blue, peach and champagne and better quality prized varieties are found in Sri Lanka, India, Australia and the United States.

Those who are born in June are lucky to have more stones to choose from. You can pick one to match the personality of the person who is receiving it.
